This is a disturbing headline in the Coloradoan News today, February 5, 2015. The article also states: “If the city’s planning and zoning board did not approve stadium plans, Colorado State University’s Board of Governors could override the decision by a two-thirds vote, according to state law. In December, the board voted 8-0 in favor of building a $220 million stadium on CSU’s Fort Collins campus.”
Rather than sound like a bully on the playground, I’d suggest that “we” ask them to have their plans reviewed by the City. I’m certain that CSU already knows they are obligated to submit their plans to the Planning and Zoning Board. Why add more consternation to the “hot topic” by flaming the fire with “forcing” or portraying the idea of flexing and sabering our power? The late President Eisenhower once said that the art of leadership is getting someone to do something you want done, because they want to do it.
I’d rather gain compliance with collaboration versus creating an atmosphere of “who has the bigger sword.” Together we are better.
