Regarding the Coloradoan reporting on Loveland City Council voting down the joint police training facility as a “surprise” to our Council and local officials:

Just to clear the air. Our council has always known that Loveland Council was split on this decision…knowing that it could go one way or another based on one or two votes. This was never a fully baked deal, and we all know that. Even our council’s vote was very tenative based on the outcome of what the plans looked like and what the actual costs are. There has always been a discrepency on exactly how much each agency would pay when it comes to the operations and management of the site. This really is not a surprise on how Loveland Council may or may not vote. Right now, Loveland has too much of an upper mangement level/leadership struggle to move forward. Until that is resolved it will be hard to come back to the table with solutions. This split vote is going to make us think more outside the box of what we will do. The problem of training needs does not go away. We will get there, but not without a whole knew avenue of approach. Where there is a problem there has to be a solution.
